Moving to a new home is a new and often stressful experience for a baby budgie. The more prepared you have before hand the better, with a fully assembled and stocked cage in a quite place for them at first. But even with everything set up perfectly your baby will still need some time to get adjusted and used to the new people, sounds and settings that will be their home.
Some babies are comfortable right away and don't seem to skip a beat, and some take a few days to get comfortable. It is important to remember that each baby is an individual, and each one will take his/her own individual amount of time to settle in and get back to acting like themselves. |
Exploring their new cage is a great beginning sign! As your new little one starts to get used to his or her new home they will begin climbing around their cage, finding out where the food and water dishes are and investigating new toys.
As they get more comfortable they will also start to become more vocal again, chirping and talking when you talk to them, they hear water running, the TV or radio and a variety of other sounds. They are often the most vocal when they first wake up in the evening and right before bed at night since these are natural bonding times for them in the wild. |
