Java is a cobalt blue, df violet. He is split for recessive pied, cinnamon, and possibly cinnamon and ino.
Sapphire is a cobalt blue, df violet, spangle.

May 12, 2011
Little miss Sapphire has supirsed me with her first egg when I got home from work this evening!
May 14, 2011
Sapphire laid another egg this evening.
May 16, 2011
We have 3 eggs! Here is a picture of them today.
May 19, 2011
We are up to 5 eggs today! Sapphire was being quite stubborn and didnt want me taking pics lol... thus you see her booty still sticking out of the nestbox here.
This is Java's first clutch so I didnt know what to expect, but all of the eggs are fertile so far! The only ones I am not sure yet are those that were laid in the last couple days since it is too early to tell just yet
May 21, 2011
Here is the ever needing to check out and be in everybodys business Sapphire today! The other hens hear me coming and when I tap on the box its like "oh great, here she comes again to bug us with the daily checking thing, just hop out"
Sapphire has a different approach... its more of "Hey! These are my eggs! You can look at them with me in here keeping an eye on you or not at all!" as you can see in the pics Lol! Can you tell she is one if my bold ones?
"What! You AGAIN!?"
"Alright thats enough I am coming back over!"
"I am still keeping an eye on you... not leaving the box!"
"Ok if you arent going to leave I am going to pull all the eggs over here and start incubating them anyway!"
May 22, 2011
We have another egg for Sapphire this evening..
Can you see the eggs all changing color, turning to a darker more pearly white color with the growning chicks inside?
May 25, 2011
One more egg for a total of 7 today! I don't think she is going to stop lol!
May 27, 2011
7 is the number of eggs today for Sapphire and Java! Here is a pic of all the little eggs from today.
May 29, 2011
One more egg to add to the clutch! We now have 8 Eggs. I can only hope for Sapphires sake that it is the last one lol!
June 1, 2011
There was not another egg yesterday (thankfully) so our final number of eggs for Sapphire and java in this clutch is 8! Only a few more days until they will start to hatch! When I went to give them their morning egg food I checked the last eggs to be laid and they look fertil too!
June 2, 2011
We have an early hatch!! Baby 1 is here for Sapphire and Java!!!
Here is the little pinkie, momma is doing a good job keeping him/her full!
June 3, 2011
Another little pinkie had hatched! This one is an albino and there for must be a girl geneticly speaking. She has hatched at 17 days too, all of Sapphires chicks are in a rush to get into the world it seems haha!
June 4, 2011
Here are Sapphire and Javas 3 little babies today!
You can see the big difference in the eye color of the albino and 2 normal eye colored chicks in this pic, she is all the way to the left.
June 5, 2011
Baby 4 is here! Another little albino girl.
I know she is a girl because the ino (albino/lutino) gene is sex linked. Sapphire is not albino (girls can't be split for sex linked genes), and neither is Java visuall, but he is split to it so any babies that are albinos are girls since it takes an ino gene from both parents to get a boy albino.

I cleaned the nestboxes for the first time today since I was starting to see a little poop in the box. It was SO easy with these boxes! I ordered some extra tray inserts and I just slid the one they were on out(carefully of course ) and filled a new one with shavings put the babies and unhatched eggs back on it and slid it back in! Took all of 30 seconds and the other trays can be cleaned and disinfected for the next swap.
So here are Sapphire and Javas 5 pinkies! They all look fat and healthy!
June 8
The oldest babies are 6 days old today!
The colors are starting to come in on the oldest chicks. You can see the one baby opening his/her eye a bit.
June 10, 2011
Here comes momma!
I banded the first babies today since they were 7-8 days old... man are these babies big!! I BARELY got them on a couple of the 7 day old ones! Momma is doing a great job keeping everyone full and growing great!
June 12, 2011
Here are the 5 little ones today! They are getting so big!
June 14, 2011
Time for some baby pics from todau! They are 8-12 days old.
These guys should all be big since their parents are... I weighed some of them earlier and Sapphires oldest chick at 12 days is 34 grams, and the others at the same age around 12 days were between 30 and 32.
June 16, 2011
Here are some pics from today. Everyone was very squirmy andnd I was short on time in taking them, so I am sorry they arent the greatest. The albinos eyes are light right now, but I try to only breed ones with very dark ruby eyes as adults so all the babies will have very dark eyes too. A lot of the time I can't hardly tell the difference between them and a DF spangle
They are 10-14 days old today here.
June 20, 2011
Here are the 5 cute little cuties of Sapphire and Java today!
Baby 1- 18 days
Baby 3- 17 days
Baby 5- 14 days
Baby 2- 18 days
Baby 4- 16 days
June 25, 2011
Here are the fluffies today! FYI- none of these babies are yellowfaces, the mommas just love their veggies! (Among which are red peppers, carrots, and tomatoes ) so what we have are a bunch of multi colored veggie babies lol. It fades after a couple days of being away from mom (which you can see on the babies I have been hand feeding a couple days that are back to white again) But she preens them every day with veggie face so theres not much I can do about it. Just a heads up so nobody gets confused.
Ok enough blabbing here they are!

I got a bunch of new toys for the little fluffies big weaning cage!
The 5 oldest babies went from the smaller weaning cage to the bigger one this morning, they are mostly staying on the floor so far though unless I come over to the cage, then its a frenzy to see who can climb the highest first so (because obviously this is what determines who gets fed first in their little minds! ) and then they cant figure how to climb down so they flap to the floor. Too cute! Anyways here is the cage with 5 of the munchkins in it so far
July 3, 2011
Time for some new baby pics of the little ones I am hand feeding!
Baby 2- 31 days old
Baby 4- 29 days old
July 6, 2011
Unfortunately not all of the babies were wanting to work with me today in the picture department But this is what we have! lol
A girl- Albino. She was being a little stinker today because she wanted to be with me and not on the basket haha.
A boy- Cobalt. Df Violet. Normal.
He was being much better about getting his picture taken than his sisters!
A girl- Albino. This is the only one I could get of this little monkey too!
July 11, 2011
Today was the first day I woke up to give them their first hand feeding and NOBODY was squawking at me! I didn't hardly know what to do with myself! They have all been trying lots of new foods and are busy being little monkeys in their cage with all the new toys.
I will try and get some updated pics soon! I am sorry the updates and pics have been slim this last week, we are building a new room for the birds and have been working on it all weekend so it has been taking up the little time I have when I am not caring for tha babies and working, but they are all doing great and weaning is coming along just perfect!
July 20, 2011
We have been working on step ups and eating lots of veggies this week, and they have been flying and exploring all over the place.
Only 8 days until the first baby goes to their new home at 8 weeks old, can you believe how old they are?! It seems like I was just writing on this journal when they were laying the eggs! They grow up so fast!
Here are some final pics of everyone before they go to their new homes!
