Body Color: Frosted pied is a slightly diluting mutation. A frosted pied budgie will have an even shade of about 10-20% diluted body color
(this body color will vary with each budgie depending on whether they are yellow or blue, and if they have any dark or color adding factors) on their chest, breast and rump where it will be the darkest. Frosted effect will vary over the throat, chest, belly and rump. Most also have a mix of body color on the head and wings, similar to an opaline. |
Pied Markings: There should be a pied patch on the back of the head. The primary flights will vary from light to deep grizzled to various clear pied feathers. Tail feathers can be normal, grizzled grey or clear pied.
Cheek Patches: Depending on the pied effected feathers they can be normal or frosted. Eye Color And Iris At Maturity: Black eyes with white iris. Mature Adult Cere Color: Deep blue in males and light blue/white to tan in females depending on if they are in breeding condition. |
