I and many others can attest to the fact that it can be one of the most rewarding experiences to raise a clutch of healthy baby budgies from start to finish.
I love getting to know my pairs individual personalities and then setting them up in a breeding cage with a mate they are compatible with and then waiting anxiously for the first egg to arrive.
Each time I see the heartbeat of a chick that is only a few days old from within the egg is an amazing sight no matter how many times I have seen it, and watching the chicks grow into beautiful fully feathered chicks that will bring years and years of joy to their new families is priceless to me.
The truth of the matter is though that raising a clutch of healthy babies is not going to happen unless we as the owner and breeder choose to make it happen. Our budgies are only going to do what comes naturally to them, and when we set them up in our homes to breed, we are responsible for making sure they have the best chances possible for success.
There are so many things that are often overlooked in many breeding guides that can have a huge impact on the success (or lack there of) of a breeding season, and in writing this book I am hoping to give those those who are looking to breed ethically a complete and accurate guide.
There are few hobbies that have the potential for so much joy or sorrow depending on how we choose to carry them out, and whether this is your first time breeding or you have been raising budgies for a number of years now and would like to experience higher fertility and survival rates, I hope you will enjoy reading information I have put together in my book!
