I hope everyone has enjoying the holidays!
Another chick has hatched for Leyla and Aiden, and hand feeding will begin as soon as they are ready. I think the crazy weather fluctuations have had a not so good effect on quite a few of the pairs. A few years back we had similar weather and they just did not seem to want to lay again until the weather leveled out.
I will give them all a bit more time, but if nobody else starts to lay I think it would be best to give them all a rest for a bit and condition new pairs for the beginning of next year. Leyla is up to 4 eggs now, and at least two are showing fertility.
Quite a few of the hens have been popping in and out of their next boxes. Eggs shouldnt be too far behind!
Edana seems to have stopped laying after just one egg, and is showing no signs of wanting to incubate it. As this is her first clutch she is probably still figuring out what she is doing. Hopefully more eggs will follow for her, but if not I think I will just give her a rest and let her try again next year.
Hey everyone!
A few people have mentioned that journal updates are not showing up properly as they are posted, and/or, are posting all at once for some reason. If you notice this happening for your web browser, please let me know so I can refresh/repost things so they show up properly for everyone. Thanks! |
