Myra and Quinlins 2nd egg is here! I have pulled Sapphire and Caelans last two chicks for hand feeding, a violet cinnamon spangle and a violet spangle. Myra and Quinlins second egg is here, I really hope they are fertile!
Sapphire and Caelans 3rd and 4th chicks will start hand feeding tomorrow! Cute pics to follow this week as promised! Myra and Quinlins first egg arrived to day right on schedule! ypress and Kenyons last egg has also hatched! The 6 healthy little chicks are growing very fast, and I banded the oldest two today. Lani and Saxons 4 eggs are all showing fertility so far, and the first of the chicks could start hatching on the 30th of this month (assuming she started incubating when the first egg was laid of course). Lets all keep our fingers crossed for a chick with plum eyes! Meaning a little DF spangle!
Chick 5 is also here for Cypress and Kenyon! I have pulled Sapphire and Caelans oldest two chicks to start hand feeding today! The oldest is a normal cobalt double factor violet, and the younger is looking like a mauve double factor violet cinnamon. I will get pics up this week! Senica and Silas first chick has hatched today! They have 5 other fertile eggs, but the days they were laid was spaced somewhat so the days between hatches will be larger. Depending on how big, I might foster some of chicks to other nests just to make things more even for them with Senica being a first time momma. She is doing a great job so far though!
I have been conditioning a new pair (Myra and Quinlin) for the last few weeks and gave them a nest box a couple of days back as they are both well bonded and all ready to go! This will be the first clutch for both of them, so lets see what happens! Myra is starting to show a little egg bum, so the first one should not be too far off. |
